Student of the Year Award
“The Marion D. Smiley Student of the Year Award” was established to recognize and honor an outstanding student who exhibits the qualities of exemplary citizenship, scholarship, outstanding community service, and leadership to H. Councill Trenholm State Community College and the larger community. The award is in recognition of exceptional service to the College. The winner must be an all-around student, excelling in all endeavors inside and outside of the classroom. Any faculty, staff, student or administrator can nominate a student based on the criteria below:
- Participation in College activities
- At least at 3.0 overall G.P.A.
- Volunteer work on/off campus
- Must be at least a sophomore
- Must have good citizenship
THE SELECTION COMMITTEE
The Selection Committee is composed of faculty, staff and community volunteers.
The Student Services Division demonstrates a strong commitment to student success by providing a learning environment in which individuals from varied backgrounds are afforded opportunities for student success. This division works in concert with faculty to develop a holistic individual; offer professional development opportunities that will enhance the recruitment and retention for students; increase enrollment through assertive recruiting and retention strategies; to offer an array of social, cultural and educational activities to students to create a feeling of belonging.
