Scholarships

Trenholm State Community College (TSCC) offers a limited number of scholarships to students entering as freshmen and to currently enrolled students. Trenholm State Institutional Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis by a selection committee. In addition, there are a limited number of transfer scholarships available for Trenholm students. The types of scholarships awarded at the College are:

Institutional Scholarships

The 2023-2024 scholarship deadline ended on April 3, 2023. Please stay tuned for information regarding the 2024-2025 scholarship application cycle.

Educational Advancement Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative 2.5 or higher Grade-Point Average (CGPA)
  • High School Graduate, GED recipients
  • Must be a first-time Trenholm Student
  • Apply for admission to Trenholm State for Fall 2023
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Five Hundred (500) word essay (typed) regarding your career goals and why you should be considered for a scholarship
  • Two (2) signed letters of recommendation on official letterhead (Example: from a principal, counselor, teacher, minister and/or employer. Letters from family members or friends will not be accepted)
  • Must submit a Resume with Scholarship Application

Achievement Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative Grade-Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 or better
  • Must have completed at least 12-credit hours at the College
  • Must enroll as a full-time student to be eligible
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must submit a Resume with Scholarship Application
  • Five Hundred (500) word essay (typed) regarding your career goals and why you should be considered for a scholarship
  • Two (2) signed letters of recommendation on official letterhead (Example: from a principal, counselor, teacher, minister and/or employer. Letters from family members or friends will not be accepted).
  • Must maintain a 3.50 cumulative Grade-Point Average (CGPA) throughout their enrollment at the College

Career Technical Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative 2.5 or higher Grade-Point Average (CGPA)
  • Must be a High School Graduate, GED recipient
  • Must be a first-time Trenholm Student
  • Apply for admissions to Trenholm State for Fall 2023
  • Must be recommended for the Career Technical Scholarship by a Career Technical Center Director
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Five Hundred (500) word essay (typed) regarding your career goals and why you should be considered for a scholarship
  • Two (2) signed letters of recommendation on official letterhead (Example: from a principal, counselor, teacher, minister and/or employer. Letters from family members or friends will not be accepted)

Transfer Scholarships

The 2023-2024 Transfer scholarship deadline ended on February 1, 2023. Please stay tuned for information regarding 2024-2025 scholarship opportunities.

Alabama State University (ASU) Presidential Scholarship

Alabama State University (ASU) is offering the 2023-2024 Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition, fees, books, and housing to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to ASU for the 2023-2024 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be fully admitted to Alabama State University for the Fall 2023 semester.
  2. Must have completed at least 24 credit hours from Trenholm State towards an Associate in Arts or Science.
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be willing to serve as an ASU Transfer Ambassador through graduation.

The Presidential Scholarship is renewable up to five (5) consecutive semesters (for a total of 6 semesters, Fall and Spring only) provided that the recipient meets, maintains a 3.0 GPA per academic year and maintains full-time enrollment (excluding summer). To be considered, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay, and an unofficial transcript.

University of Alabama (UA) Presidential Scholarship

The University of Alabama (UA) is offering the 2023-2024 Presidential Scholarship, which covers the cost of tuition to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to UA for the 2023-2024 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must apply by February 1, 2023, and be admitted as a transfer student to UA for Fall 2023 semester by March 1, 2023.
  2. Must complete UA's scholarship application by March 1st to be considered.
  3. Must have earned 45 transferable credit hours towards an associate degree and maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average.
  4. Cannot have any 4-year institution credit (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school).
  5. Cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UA.
  6. Must be an Alabama resident.

The scholarship is renewable annually for a total of four semesters, provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale. To be considered, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay and an unofficial transcript.

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) - (SPAN) Presidential Scholarship

AUM is offering the 2023-2024 Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition and applicable fees, will be awarded to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to AUM for the 2023-2024 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be fully admitted to AUM for Fall 2023.
  2. Must have completed 45 academic credit hours.
  3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 GPA.
  4. Must be willing to serve as an AUM Transfer Ambassador to sustain their scholarship through graduation.

All transfer scholarships may be renewed for up to two years contingent upon full-time enrollment and maintained cumulative minimum institution GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To be considered, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay and an unofficial transcript.

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Presidential Scholarship

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is offering the 2023-2024 Presidential Scholarship, which covers $12,000 towards the cost of tuition and academic related fees to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to UAB for the 2023-2024 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must apply by February 1, 2023, and be admitted as a transfer student to UAB for the upcoming fall term by March 1, 2023.
  2. Must submit a General Application and upload a resume in the Blazer Scholarship Management and Resource Tool (www.uab.edu/bsmart) by the March 1.
  3. Must have earned a minimum of 48 transferable credit hours by the March 1 deadline. An official transcript must be provided showing Fall grades.
  4. Student must transfer with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Non-transferrable coursework will not be calculated in the GPA.
  5. Cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB.
  6. Must be an Alabama resident.
  7. Student must be willing to assist with transfer recruitment events and efforts as a transfer representative for UAB (event examples: tours, community college visits, Transfer Day at UAB).

Ambassador Scholarships

Ambassador Scholarship

The Student Ambassador program is a prestigious leadership organization that provides students with valuable real-world experience through leadership, volunteerism, public speaking, conferences, and workshops. The Ambassador program's mission is to cultivate student leaders who share the Trenholm State experience with prospective students, their families, and the greater community.

Trenholm State Community College Ambassadors will serve as the College representatives for various on and off-campus events and activities, including campus tours, serving on student panels, and volunteer events. Selected candidates are eligible for a scholarship that covers tuition and applicable fees for 12 credit hours. Ambassadors are responsible for the cost of books.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school applicants must enroll at Trenholm State Community College for the Fall 2023 term.
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Cannot be on any other institutional scholarship awarded by Trenholm.

THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more hours) each semester and complete 24 hours each academic year while enrolled at Trenholm. (Excluding summer semesters)
  • Be available to work 8 (flexible) hours per week.
  • Participate in all required leadership training.
  • Participate in student engagements and activities.
  • Participate in on and off-campus college recruitment activities.
  • Participate in fundraising activities.
  • Participate in conferences on and off-campus.
  • Some nights and weekends may be required.
  • Have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Present a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

All applicants will be required to submit a COMPLETED application packet by April 3, 2023, to be considered. A completed application includes 1) online application, 2) resume of extracurricular activities and community service, 3) copy of an unofficial transcript, 4) letter of recommendation and 5) headshot photo (Business or Business Casual).

If you are selected as a final candidate, you will be contacted via email to set up a date, time, and location for the interview with the scholarship committee.

Counselor's Scholarship

Trenholm State Community College is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity to assist incoming high school students with the cost of their college education. The Counselor’s Scholarship Award allows high school counselors within the Trenholm State Community College recruiting area to nominate one outstanding senior from the Class of 2023 for this prestigious award.

Students must meet the following criteria to be nominated:

  • Must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA after grades have posted for their first semester of the student's senior year;
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or provide proper documented residency status;
  • Must have completed an admissions application to Trenholm State for the Fall 2023 semester;
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);

To nominate a student for the Counselor’s Scholarship, each high school counselor must submit the 2023-2024 TSCC Counselor’s Scholarship Nomination Form and a copy of the student’s transcript with the cumulative GPA.
