Scholarships

Trenholm State Community College offers a limited number of scholarships to students entering as freshmen and to currently enrolled students. In addition, there are a limited number of transfer scholarships available for Trenholm students. The types of scholarships awarded at the College are:

Institutional Scholarships

The 2021-2022 scholarship deadline ended on April 1, 2021. Please stay tuned for information regarding the 2022-2023 scholarship application cycle.

Educational Advancement Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative 2.5 or higher Grade-Point Average (CGPA)
  • High School Graduate, GED recipients
  • Must be a first-time Trenholm Student
  • Apply for admission to Trenholm State for Fall 2021
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must attach a 500-word typed essay and 3 letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Application
  • Must submit a Resume with Scholarship Application

Achievement Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative Grade-Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 or better
  • Must have completed at least 12-credit hours at the College
  • Must enroll as a full-time student to be eligible
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must submit a Resume with Scholarship Application
  • Must attach a 500-word typed essay and 3 letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Application
  • Must maintain a 3.50 cumulative Grade-Point Average (CGPA) throughout their enrollment at the College

Career Technical Scholarships

Requirements

  • Must have a cumulative 2.5 or higher Grade-Point Average (CGPA)
  • Must be a High School Graduate, GED recipient
  • Must be a first-time Trenholm Student
  • Apply for admissions to Trenholm State for Fall 2021
  • Must be recommended for the Career Technical Scholarship by a Career Technical Center Director
  • Must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must attach a 500-word typed essay and 3 letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Application

Career Technical Scholarships

Perkins Reserve Fund Scholarship

Perkins Reserve Scholarship is exclusively for new students who are majoring in electrical technology, automotive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or industrial systems and automation. The funding for this scholarship is from a grant which will cover all tuition and fees for students enrolling in one of the previously noted programs during the summer 2021 semester. The deadline to apply is 5:00 pm, May 17, 2021. There will be 10 scholarships awarded during this application cycle.

Perkins Scholarship

The Perkins Scholarship is awarded to students who are nontraditional gendered students in an effort to increase enrollment of said students in applicable programs. More specifically, the intent is to increase female students in male-dominated career fields and male students in female-dominated career fields. The Perkins Scholarship can assist with the cost of tuition and fees that are not covered by another funding source. A listing of the approved programs for this scholarship and the associated gender are as follows:

Transfer Scholarships

Alabama State University (ASU) Presidential Scholarship

Deadline For TSCC Nomination Form: February 8, 2021

ASU is offering the 2021-2022 Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition, fees, books, and housing to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to ASU for the 2021-2022 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be fully admitted to Alabama State University for the Fall 2021 semester
  2. Must have earned a degree from Trenholm State in A.S. Arts or A.S. Science
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.76 or higher
  4. Must be willing to serve as an ASU Transfer Ambassador through graduation

The Presidential Scholarship is renewable up to five (5) consecutive semesters (for a total of 6 semesters, Fall and Spring only) provided that the recipient meets, maintains a 3.0 GPA per academic year, and maintains full-time enrollment (excluding summer). To apply, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet to be considered. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay, and unofficial transcript.

University of Alabama (UA) Presidential Scholarship

Deadline For TSCC Nomination Form: February 12, 2021

UA is offering the 2021-2022 Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition and academic-related fees to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to UA for the 2021-2022 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be admitted as a transfer student to UA for the upcoming fall term by March 1, 2021.
  2. Must complete UA's scholarship application by March 1 to be considered.
  3. Must have earned an associate's degree from Trenholm and maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
  4. Cannot have any 4-year institution credit (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school).
  5. Cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UA.
  6. Must be an Alabama resident.

The scholarship is renewable annually for two years, provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.

To apply, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet to be considered. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay, and unofficial transcript.

University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Presidential Scholarships

Deadline For TSCC Nomination Form: February 12, 2021

UAB is offering the 2021-2022 Presidential Scholarship covering full tuition and academic-related fees to two Trenholm State students who transfer from Trenholm State to UAB for the 2021-2022 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be fully admitted to UAB for the Fall 2021 semester by March 1, 2021
  2. Must have earned a non-technical degree from Trenholm State at the end of Spring
  3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (GPA calculations will not include non-transferable coursework
  4. Cannot have any 4-year institution credit (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school)
  5. Cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB
  6. Must be an Alabama resident
  7. Must be willing to assist with transfer recruitment events and efforts as a transfer representative for UAB

The Presidential Scholarship is for two years (four semesters) and is renewable annually for two years, provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher. To apply, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet to be considered. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay, and unofficial transcript.

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) - (SPAN) Presidential Scholarship

Deadline For TSCC Nomination Form: July 1, 2021

AUM is offering the 2021-2022 Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition and fees, will be awarded to a Trenholm State student who transfers from Trenholm State to AUM for the 2021-2022 academic year.

To qualify, the nominee must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be fully admitted to AUM for Fall 2021
  2. Must have completed 45 academic hours
  3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 GPA
  4. Must be willing to serve as an AUM Transfer Ambassador to sustain their scholarship through graduation

All transfer scholarships may be renewed for up to two years contingent upon full-time enrollment and maintained cumulative minimum institution GPA of 3.0 or higher.

To apply, students should submit a complete TSCC Nomination Packet to be considered. A complete nomination packet consists of the completed online nomination form, one (1) letter of recommendation, 500-word essay, and unofficial transcript.

Leadership Scholarships

Ambassador Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • High school applicants must enroll at Trenholm State Community College for the Fall 2021 term.
  • Current Trenholm students applying for the Ambassador Scholarship must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in Trenholm for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 terms.
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Cannot be on any other institutional scholarship awarded by Trenholm.

Counselor's Scholarship

Trenholm State Community College is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity to assist incoming high school students with the cost of their college education. The Counselor’s Scholarship Award allows high school counselors within the Trenholm State Community College recruiting area to nominate one outstanding senior from the Class of 2021 for this prestigious award.

Students must meet the following criteria to be nominated:

  • Must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA after grades have posted for their first semester of the student's senior year;
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or provide proper documented residency status;
  • Must have completed an admissions application to Trenholm State for the Fall 2021 semester;

To nominate a student for the Counselor’s Scholarship,each high school counselor must submit the 2021-2022 TSCC Counselor’s Scholarship Nomination Form and a copy of the student’s transcript with the cumulative GPA. The student should also complete a typed, 500 essay on the topic “What are your career goals, and how will earning a college degree from TSCC help in achieving those goals?”.
