is open for Spring 2024

The deadline to apply for Spring 2024 Graduation is March 4, 2024 Failure to apply by the deadline will delay your degree conferral and result in exclusion from the commencement ceremony and printed program.

Before completing the online graduation application, review your Degree Works audit worksheet in your student portal and meet with your advisor to verify which courses are needed to meet degree requirements. Students who have applied for graduation during prior semesters and did not meet the graduation requirements will be required to complete a new graduation application.

The 2024 Commencement is Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl, at 10:00 a.m. The Ceremony will be for those students meeting graduation application requirements during Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024.

Students must also ensure that they have paid the non-refundable $25.00 Graduation Application Fee via Touchnet in their SSB portal to have their application processed. Students who receive benefits from programs such as WIOA, TRA, and VA Chapters 31 and 33 should contact their WIOA Coordinator or VA Coordinator for assistance with Graduation Fee payment.

As a requirement for the application process, students should also complete Graduate Survey and the Career Employment Survey.

When should I submit a graduation Application?

Submit your graduation application NOW. The deadline for Fall 2023 graduation application is November 9, 2023. The deadline for Spring 2024 graduation application is March 4, 2024.

You must be registered for Spring 2024 in order to submit your Spring 2024 graduation application.

How much is the graduation fee?

The graduation fee is $25.00 and is applied to your student account when you submit a graduation application.

How do I pay my graduation application fee?

Trenholm State Community College’s 2024 Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl, at 10:00 a.m.

Will there be a rehearsal?

There will be no rehearsal. Graduates will line up in alphabetical order by Program of Study. You must be on time, or you will not be allowed to march at the Commencement.

Is there ADA accommodation?

Candidates who have a documented disability and need special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) must contact Ms. Monica Robinson at (334) 420-4418 for assistance.

What is the deadline to order my cap and gown?

You must order your regalia at the Trenholm-Jostens Store. The deadline to order your cap and gown is April 3, 2024.

What should I wear?

Regalia which includes a cap, gown, and gold tassel. Black or dark-colored dress, skirt, or slacks, white shirt, and black or dark-colored shoes. No spiked heels. Your graduation cap should be worn flat on the top of your head with the tassel placed to the right, front side of the cap until your degree is conferred. Please do not wear corsages.

Will I have my photograph taken?

Arts Production will provide Commencement photographs for an additional charge. Professional graduation photographs are scheduled for April 27, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, at the Patterson Site Auditorium. Bring your cap and gown!

Will guests need tickets to attend the Commencement Ceremony?

How do I obtain my transcript?

Trenholm State Community has partnered with Parchment to accept online transcript orders. Students and alumni can order their official transcripts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Transcripts can be sent electronically or mailed in hard copy, depending on the receiving institution or destination. How long will the Commencement Ceremony last?

Please plan for two to three hours.

When should I arrive?

Please plan to arrive an hour and a half before the start of the Ceremony.

I have been awarded multiple degrees and/or certificates. How will I be recognized during the ceremony?

Students who have earned multiple awards (degrees and/or certificates) will only have the highest earned degree acknowledged during the ceremony. (ex: If a student has earned both an Associate degree and a certificate, the Associate degree will be announced at the ceremony.). Students will receive diplomas for each degree and/or certificate earned via mail. There will be an online program linked to the ceremony, which will include all degrees earned.

How will honors be determined and recognized? How do I obtain my honor cords?

Candidates for commencement will be recognized in the printed program for academic achievement.

Honor cords will be given to graduates who earned an Associate in:

  • Applied Science (AAS), Associate in Arts (AA), or Associate in Science (AS)
  • Graduation with Honors (3.50 – 3.69 cumulative GPA)
  • Graduation with High Honors (3.70 – 3.89 cumulative GPA)
  • Graduation with Highest Honors (3.90 – 4.00 cumulative GPA)
  • Certificate (CER)
  • Graduation with Distinction (3.50 – 4.00 cumulative GPA)

Please Note: Potential Spring 2024 graduates’ honors status will be determined based upon the previous term’s GPA. (Grades will be verified before noting final graduation honors on the official transcript.)

Cords/regalia for PTK and NSLS may be purchased through your organization’s sponsor.

When will my degree be posted to my transcript?

The degree or certificate will be posted to academic transcripts 14 days after classes end.

When will I receive my diploma?

If you have paid your $25.00 graduation fee, your award will be mailed to the address listed on your graduation application 4-6 weeks after the end of the term.

I need to show proof of my degree or certificate.

Trenholm State offers a digital degree to students right after graduation. Upon completing a degree or certification program, graduates will receive an email and text notification with instructions for electronically claiming their degree or certificate; it’s a great way to immediately share your accomplishment with your family, friends, and potential employers.

Additionally, if your degree has been awarded, your official/unofficial transcripts will list your credentials. You may access online verification of degree completion through National Student Clearinghouse https://www.studentclearinghouse.org/.

My GPA is below 2.0, can I graduate?

An overall grade point average of 2.0 is required to earn your degree. We recommend you contact the Records Office to discuss eligibility for course forgiveness or academic bankruptcy to help raise your GPA. Note: You may not bankrupt a course that will be applied towards your degree.

What happens if I applied for degree or certificate but do not complete all the courses that I needed to graduate?

Students who have applied for graduation and did not meet the graduation requirements will be required to complete a new online graduation application.
