The Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree at Trenholm State Community College provides students with a strong academic foundation designed to support seamless transfer into four‑year colleges and universities. Students complete a broad curriculum that includes English, social sciences, fine arts, mathematics, and electives tailored to studies in liberal arts and humanities This flexible pathway empowers learners to discover their academic interests, build confidence, and prepare for future studies.
Students who pursue an Associates of Arts are interested in humanities, social sciences, education, or fields requiring strong interpersonal and critical-thinking skills. This degree leads students through learning activities so that they understand multicultural and diverse perspectives. Students will gain insights through experiences involving ethical and social issues.
The Associates of Arts degree is one of two degrees offered in the General Education program. This degree prepares students to transfer and continue their studies at the baccalaureate level. The curriculum consists of a broad range of courses in communication, humanities, sciences, and associated electives.
This degree pathway document serves as an advising resource and course guide for faculty and students. Students are strongly advised to enroll in any required Math or English courses during the first semester. Course offerings are subject to change based on availability during any semester and final enrollment numbers

To be eligible for admissions to pursue an Associate Degree, a student must meet one of the following criteria:
The student holds Advanced, Regular Diploma, Regular Career/Technical Endorsement, Credit-Based Endorsement Diploma, the high school diploma of another state equivalent to aforementioned endorsements, or an equivalent diploma issued by a non-public, regionally and/or state accredited high school; or
The student holds a high school diploma equivalent to Advanced, Regular Diploma, Regular Career/Technical Endorsement, Credit-Based Endorsement Diploma issued by a non-public high school and passed the Alabama High School Graduation Examination; or
The student holds a high school diploma equivalent to the Advanced or Regular Diploma, issued by a non-public high school and has achieved a minimum ACT score of 16; or
The student holds the high school diploma from another state equivalent to the Advanced, Regular Diploma, Regular Career/Technical Endorsement, Credit-Based Endorsement or an equivalent diploma issued by a non-public high school, and has achieved a minimum ACT score of 16; or
The student holds a GED Certificate issued by an appropriate state education agency.
