Trenholm State Awarded $129,562 ACCS Workforce Development Grant to Expand Healthcare Career Pathways

Trenholm State Community College has been awarded $129,562 through the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) for the Fast Track Healthcare Industry Certification Initiative, strengthening the College’s ongoing commitment to workforce development, student achievement, and the preparation of qualified professionals for high-demand industries. This grant represents a strategic investment in expanding access to healthcare training and creating accelerated pathways for students to earn industry-recognized credentials that support entry into the workforce and long-term career advancement. Through this initiative, Trenholm State continues to demonstrate its dedication to aligning educational opportunities with the evolving needs of employers and the communities it serves.

Grant funds will support the equipment and instructional resources necessary to deliver high-quality, hands-on healthcare training that emphasizes practical skill development and industry relevance. Access to these resources will help strengthen the learning experience by preparing students to pursue recognized healthcare certifications and transition more efficiently into professional opportunities. By prioritizing career-focused instruction and credential attainment, the initiative seeks to address healthcare workforce shortages while helping individuals build the knowledge, competencies, and qualifications needed to contribute meaningfully to the delivery of healthcare services. These efforts also reinforce the importance of accessible, career-oriented education in supporting economic mobility and meeting the growing demand for a skilled healthcare workforce across Alabama.

“This grant strengthens our commitment to educational opportunities that lead to meaningful careers and lasting community benefits. Through the Fast Track Healthcare Industry Certification Initiative, Trenholm State will invest in training, instructional resources, and industry-recognized credentials to prepare a qualified healthcare workforce, address critical workforce needs, and help students pursue rewarding careers with confidence and purpose. We are grateful for this investment in student success and the growth and prosperity of our region and state,” said Dr. Kemba Chambers, President of Trenholm State Community College.

Through this ACCS workforce development grant, Trenholm State continues to advance its role as a vital partner in workforce preparation and community advancement. By investing in career-focused training that connects education with employment opportunities, the College is helping create pathways for students to build sustainable careers while supporting the healthcare industry’s need for qualified professionals. The Fast Track Healthcare Industry Certification Initiative underscores Trenholm State’s commitment to delivering relevant, high-quality educational experiences that empower students, strengthen the regional workforce, and contribute to Alabama’s economic and professional development.
