Trenholm State Community College Awarded $25,172 Workforce Development Grant to Support STEAM Quest Summer Camp

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Trenholm State Community College has been awarded $25,172 in Workforce Development grant funding from the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) to support its STEAM Quest Summer Camp, an initiative designed to introduce students to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

The funding will support interactive projects, demonstrations, and career exploration activities that encourage students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and technical skills. Through these experiences, participants will gain early exposure to STEAM-related careers and learn about the educational pathways available to help them pursue future opportunities in these growing fields.

The STEAM Quest Summer Camp reflects Trenholm State’s commitment to expanding educational access, fostering innovation, and preparing students for success in an evolving workforce. By introducing students to STEAM concepts at an early stage, the College seeks to strengthen their interest in these disciplines and help build a foundation for continued learning and career development.

“Investing in students early in their development broadens their horizons, exposes them to new possibilities, and opens doors to opportunities they may never have imagined,” said Dr. Kemba Chambers, President of Trenholm State Community College. “Through STEAM Quest, we are creating meaningful learning experiences that strengthen problem-solving skills and inspire students to explore careers that will shape the future. This grant supports our commitment to empower learners and prepare individuals to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.”

The grant further advances Trenholm State’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality educational opportunities that promote student achievement, workforce readiness, and community advancement. Through partnerships and innovative learning initiatives, the College continues to connect education with emerging career opportunities and equip learners with skills that support long-term success.

“Programs like STEAM Quest demonstrate the value of introducing students to practical, career-focused learning experiences,” Dr. Chambers added. “We are grateful for the support of the Alabama Community College System and remain committed to developing opportunities that help students recognize their potential and envision a path toward future success.”

The $25,172 allocation underscores the importance of investing in educational initiatives that cultivate technical knowledgeand help prepare the next generation for continued education and careers in STEAM-related fields.
