Adult Education Frequently Asked Questions

(Q) I want to improve my basic skills and pass the GED test. Can Adult Education classes help me?

(A) Yes, we offer free adult education classes that teach GED Prep skills.

(Q) Where are these classes?

(A) There is a day or evening class in a location near you, just follow the “GED Prep Class Sites” link on the left to find out where.

(Q) When do the classes begin? How long do they continue? When/where do I register or sign-up?

(A) Adult Education classes meet year round. Please email us at cruise@trenholmstate.edu to inquire about scheduling an appointment for new student orientation.

(Q) How long do I have to go to class?

(A) Your class work will be individualized, so that you will work at your own level, at your own speed. You decide how long it takes.

(Q) How much does it cost?

(A) Adult Education classes are free. There is no cost to you.

(Q) I have been out of school so long. I was not successful in school before. Can I learn and succeed now?

(A) Yes, you can learn and succeed now because your instruction will be individualized so that you can work on each skill until you master it.

(Q) What do I need to bring with me to class?

(A) Pencil, paper, and an “I won’t quit until I succeed” attitude.

(Q) When and where is the GED Test given?

(A) Trenholm State Community College is a state-approved GED Testing Center located on the college’s Patterson Site. To schedule a GED test date, please go online to www.ged.com to register, pay and select a test date that is convenient for you.

(Q) What else do I need to know about the GED test?
(Q) How can I get a duplicate GED diploma or transcript?
(Q) How do I provide a potential employer or educational institution a copy of my GED test results?
